Late Mrs GoldCoast Dickson was born on October 11, 1946 to the family of Mr and Mrs Oruama Nipe of Toru-Angiama town in Patani Local Government Area of Delta State. This particular reason among others was responsible for the high number condolence visits from several communities in Delta state especially Patani Local Government Area. On August 28, the Government and people of Delta State and the umbrella body of Ijaw political leaders, the Delta Ijaw Political Assembly headed by the Deputy governor of the State, Evangelist Kingsley Otuaro, came to condole with the Dickson family in Toru-Orua. In commemoration of the one-year anniversary of Madam Goldcoast Dickson’s demise, the Goldcoast Development Foundation is organizing Gogo Oge, a festival in honour of Late Madam Goldcoast Dickson who was a patroness of the Foundation established since 2012; to continue her legacy of kindness, love and selfless service to humanity.

The maiden edition of Gogo Oge always holds on the 8th August every year, to mark the anniversary of her passing to promote culture, education and empowerment.

This year’s Gogo Oge will feature medical outreach on August 6 from 8 O’ clock in morning to 5pm, while change of flag, and laying of wreath is scheduled for August 8 at Mama’s compound, Angiama Town, Patani LGA, Delta State.

Other programme of events slated to take place are Canoe Race, Wrestling Competition, War Boat and Kiddies Quiz, winners of the quiz are expected to go home with handsome prizes. There will also be traditional music till dawn supplied by various Izon bands.
